Hohenschönhausen Prison (de: Gefängnis Hohenschönhausen) was a Stasi-operated prison which was in operation from the late 1950s until the dissolution of the organization after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. A memorial center, the Gedenkstätte Berlin-Hohenschönhausen, opened on the site of the former prison in 1994.
In Deutschland 86, Tina Fischer and Christoph Fischer are imprisoned here after a failed attempt to escape East Germany while their daughters are put up for adoption. Tina and her daughters are reunited at the end of the season while Christoph remains imprisoned.
In Deutschland 89, it is revealed that he died in April 1988 while still serving time in prison.
